Redken for Men Get Groomed Finishing Cream

Sometimes I really don’t want to bother with my hair all that much. I want to wash and go.

Admittedly, many times I’m forced to wash and go because I’m running so characteristically late. Chasing behind the clock is my trademark.

But if I’m just jumping out to a movie or over to a friends house, I don’t feel the need to bust out the hairdryer, fancy paste and finishing spray (I’m serious about hair). There are times I just want to be easy, breezy beautiful. As a guy, I have the option of just keeping it really super short, but I like it to be just long enough to play with it. So, I toggle between ultimate going-out hair and casual.

Most gels and pomades leave my hair looking wet for the rest of the day/night. I used to like that look back in the 80s. My mom did not. She was constantly telling me to brush the product out of my hair.

Redken for Men Get Groomed Finishing Cream allows my hair to dry while maintaining a light control for a clean, finished look. Mom approved!

Cost: $11.65

ICE Spiker

I wanted to do something a little different today, because not everyone has my manly needs. Right! Like I’m so manly.

Anyways, awhile back I raved about my favorite hair product — however if you have really curly hair or want a more extreme style, that suggestion probably won’t work on you. For extreme hold, go for ICE Spiker.

Different people have different needs. Always remember, you are unique — just like everyone else.

My roommate says this gunk is the junk! That’s a good thing. He has super thick, curly hair and this tames his messy white boy afro.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel

“Mattifying” isn’t even a real word, but I’ll forgive Peter Thomas Roth on that one.

A nice, healthy glow is nice. Looking like a face full of bacon grease is quite another thing. My forehead gets practically reflective about mid-day, which is when I whip my Peter out. There’s no real need to leave my desk, I just squeeze a tiny amount on my fingertip, spread it on the back of the opposite hand to emulsify and rub it over the T-zone.

It’s magic — I go from greasy to matte, just like that.

Smashbox also makes a pretty good anti-shine gel ($27 on their web site), however I tend to like male-oriented products and packaging so that’s why I prefer PTR.

Clinique Face Soap with Dish

Do you ever get annoyed with bar soap sticking to your sink? I do. Especially when I’m traveling, I don’t always know what kinds of things have gone on in that sink (and I probably don’t want to).

Then there is the issue of packing the soap back up when you leave. Great! It was all nice and neat — until you opened it. The answer? Why Clinique Face Soap with Dish of course!

“Dermatologist-backed to meet men’s skin needs.”

MD Skincare All-In-One Facial Cleanser w/ Toner

Treat yourself, or the man in your life, with this fabulous two-in-one product.

A lot of guys don’t like to use a ton of products and I can totally understand that. It gets complicated and honestly you don’t want to use too many different things at once. All that will end up doing is confusing the heck out of your skin and potentially leading to disaster when it revolts, breaking out all over the place out of sheer frustration.

Simplify. The MD Skincare line is a little more high-end, but definitely worth the splurge.

Cost: $35
