Bringing Sexy Back With The Epilator!

2_255_large1.jpg

We’ve been through this discussion before about shaving, waxing, nairing and any other ritual we can think of that will remove unwanted hair as easy and painless as possible. Well I was watching The Today Show this morning and Lou Manfredini (a contributor)reviewed upcoming products at the 2008 International Home and Houseware Show. One item that got my attention was a product from Emjoi that claims you will only have to shave your legs every 4 to 6 weeks and it’s virtually painless. The electric unit uses about 72 tweezers that removes hair by pulling rather than shaving. We’ve all heard of the Epilady, but still to this day I have horrible flashbacks from using it, so I will give Emjoi a try.

I practically shudder at the image of using one, but since it’s “virtually painless” let’s see. It’s also better for the environment since come summer I normally discard quite a lot of razors.

Cost: $119.00

Ok, good luck….I’m a little scared about the 72 tweezers statement.
PLEASE let us know how if it really is virtually painless. I will really like to know because I hate having to shave because it irritates my skin & I have to wait for the hair to grow back to a certain length before I can wax it.
    Thanks

I used Nair once and had a terrible chemical burn on my skin that hurt like hell and lasted for a week. Needless to say I shy away from any cream. I might try this if it is fairly painless.

I have been using this for years LOVE IT would replace it the DAY it broke. Use it on pits, bikini and legs. It can grab from 1/16 of an inch of growth, no grow out like waxing needs, hence my switch. I have been using the braun one before this. You can buy these online now, and WELL worth the money, what is it, two full leg waxings or less in cash? Run, don’t walk to get one. Best beauty investment I ever made. It is dearer to me than my flat iron.

http://www.folica.com/Emjoi_Optima_Du_d320.html $99, this version has 36, which is more than enough. It works best on thin people, sorry if that offends, but my sister is bigger. A trick to make it work if you are not is to just make sure your skin is tight, pull with one hand and “shave” with the other, especially true in the bikini area.

ps, and one other thing, if you use this, you must commit to no shaving with a razor, or you will get ingrowns, use one or the other, but don’t switch back and forth. in an emergency, use an electric razor (what dh doesn’t know, won’t hurt him ;) )

Ok, I think I am done.

Ok, since we’re on the topic, check out the No!No! at sephora. It is completely painless and without irritation and is said reduce regrowth by 64%. I haven’t used it but i want to know if anyone has? for $250, i’d like to hear from someone who has used it and loved it before i throw down that kind of cash. Anyone?

I tested the no!no! at sephora and cannot possibly see how it can reduce hair growth. It just basically burns your hair off and it smells horrible. I did about a 2inch square section on my arm and could not stand the smell.

It was painless, did not feel a thing actually- but the smell of burning hair that lingers would be a bigt turn off enough to not buy it.

I too use a braun version of the emjoy. It is definitely NOT painless, but better than shaving. i only have to do my legs every other month or so and the hair is so sparse and thin that its barely noticable.

Poster #5- question for you if you read these comments:
Do you find the emjoy better than the braun? and How the heck do you do your underarms? I do my arms, legs and can tolerate the bikini, but the underarms i cannot muster up the courage to do.

I put my arm as far in the air as I can, like reach up, then keep the elbow up, and reach down for the brastrap. But, I am not hairy pitted, either, so there isn’t a five oclock shadow either. But after years of using this, I hardly grow any hair at all, and it is fine, light and peach fuzzy. Emjoy is quicker, as it has more tweezers, but it doesn’t take that long with either for me now that I have hardly any hair growing on my legs.
