Bringing Sexy Back With The Epilator!

We’ve been through this discussion before about shaving, waxing, nairing and any other ritual we can think of that will remove unwanted hair as easy and painless as possible. Well I was watching The Today Show this morning and Lou Manfredini (a contributor)reviewed upcoming products at the 2008 International Home and Houseware Show. One item that got my attention was a product from Emjoi that claims you will only have to shave your legs every 4 to 6 weeks and it’s virtually painless. The electric unit uses about 72 tweezers that removes hair by pulling rather than shaving. We’ve all heard of the Epilady, but still to this day I have horrible flashbacks from using it, so I will give Emjoi a try.

I practically shudder at the image of using one, but since it’s “virtually painless” let’s see. It’s also better for the environment since come summer I normally discard quite a lot of razors.

Cost: $119.00

MD Skincare Men’s One-Step Daily Facial Pads

I love multi-functional products because they make me feel pretty and smart. I’m not wasting my time doing twice the work and since it’s just one product I’m spending half the cash!

MD Sincare Men’s One-Step Daily Facial Pads are “Designed to tackle the whole gamut of shaving-related issues, while providing all the treatment benefits of a refreshing morning facial — repairs, moisturizes, and protects in under 30 seconds” Formulated to address the specific needs of men’s skin, these pads are meant to be used after washing and shaving. It’s an after-shave-toner-blemish-control-moisturizing-antioxidant-pad. Whew! Say that 5 times fast.

True story: Daily use face pads like this saved my beauty in Central America. Most parts of the country I went to did not have hot running water. And I don’t mean they were out of hot water or there was some kind of ban on hot water. I mean there was a single knob in the shower. The water on tap was either on or off and at whatever temperature it decided to come out.

Dedicated as I am to looking my best at all times, I thought ahead and used inventive products to beautify in any situation (washing first with Dove Cleansing Cloths). And you can bet if it works in the rain forest, it’s bound to work well at home.

At $48.00, these don’t come cheap, but you get 45 individual packets — making them just a little over $1 each.

Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 at 9:25 am

schick-quattro-titanium-trimmer.jpg

I always have to have the newest thing.

On yet another CVS run the other day I came across the Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer. Truth be told, I’d seen the commercial and was kind of looking for it — why lie? It’s my job to try this stuff. That’s what I’m telling the tax guy when I write off my beauty expenses.

I love two-in-one products and this razor-trimmer is definitely the next generation in shave gear. Disposible head works with other Quattro Titanium blades (4 blades with single edge back) At first I was wearly that the trimmer would be too small, but the size works fine. It also has four adjustable settings for multi-levels of manscaping. Runs on a single AAA battery (included).

Waterproof for use in the shower and easy to clean. I’m totally sold on this one.

Caudalie Merlot Shower Gel

They say that drinking a glass of red wine a day keeps you young and healthy so why not shower in wine as well? Caudalie Merlot Shower Gel smells like the real thing and is even more beneficial. Paraben and Sodium Laureth Sulfate-free, this plant-derived shower gel compliments the skin’s natural pH balance. According to Caudalie, the grapevine has been around for over 10,000 years, partially due to the grapevine’s own natural defense, Reseveratrol.

“Extensive scientific research has resulted in a skin care treatment which reduces the signs of ageing by gently stimulating cellular growth. Caudalie patented this discovery world-wide.” Resveratrol improves the skin’s elasticity while firming skin cells that make your skin appear more youthful and radiant. The benefits of wine just keep coming, so lather up!

Bath & Body Works Pearberry Body Splash

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 at 9:23 am

pearberry-body-splash.jpg

An oldie but a goody. One of my favorite scents growing up was from none other than Bath & Body Works. The beautiful blend of juicy pears and ripe forest berries, a.k.a “Pearberry,” was and still is top on my list of sexiest scents. I happen to also love the fragrance in its Body Splash form which is simply perfect for humid weather when you just feel hot, sticky and gross. I even keep a bottle in the refrigerator on those extra humid days. The sweat smell of Pearberry is light and refreshing with top notes of cantaloupe and pineapple.
Cost: $10.50
