Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel

“Mattifying” isn’t even a real word, but I’ll forgive Peter Thomas Roth on that one.

A nice, healthy glow is nice. Looking like a face full of bacon grease is quite another thing. My forehead gets practically reflective about mid-day, which is when I whip my Peter out. There’s no real need to leave my desk, I just squeeze a tiny amount on my fingertip, spread it on the back of the opposite hand to emulsify and rub it over the T-zone.

It’s magic — I go from greasy to matte, just like that.

Smashbox also makes a pretty good anti-shine gel ($27 on their web site), however I tend to like male-oriented products and packaging so that’s why I prefer PTR.

Remove That Hair Down There

I have very coarse stubborn hair all over my body, which makes it difficult during the spring/summer months to have to shave pretty much everyday. I easily get razor bumps on my upper thigh and bikini line, but as much as I hate getting waxed there’s nothing better than feeling silky smooth for weeks without worrying to have to shave. But I can’t always afford to get waxed, and some home wax kits aren’t strong enough for my hair, but I found one that works! It’s Sally Hansen Extra Strength Brazilian Bikini Waxing & Shaping Kit. It also comes with 3 Reusable Easy-Glide Spatulas, No Mistakes Mirror for precise results, Petite Bikini Scissors for expert trimming, Soothing Azulene Finishing Oil. Now of course I wouldn’t give myself a brazilian wax, but definitely great to use for the upper thigh and bikini line and other small parts of the body like belly hair. As embarassing as this is, yes some of us do have it!

Cost: $8.60

Purchase at Amazon.

Clinque’s Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15

I hate wearing makeup at the beach, and with beach season right around the corner, I found a solution! Clinque’s Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15 reduces blemishes while protecting and moisturizing the skin. All I do is wear this and sometimes a little concealer, and that it’s it. I no longer dread walking along the beach with a naked face or with foundation dripping off from melting in the sun. You can also use this moisturizer under makeup.

Cost: $26.00

Purchase at Clinque or local department stores.

Shower Secret: The SELSUN BLUE All-Over Wash

People sweat, it happens. I take issue with wetness. It’s genetic.

Turns out my body doesn’t like to be covered in sweat. My skin freaks out and sometimes I get a sudden flush of red spots all over. Not cute.

There are some medicated creams and lotions you can get, but a wise doctor once told me a little secret about Selsun Blue dander shampoo. The main ingredient, Selenieum Sulfide, works as an anti-fungal agent and zaps out the icky sweat rash.

If you have spotty skin from working out try Selsun Blue at the gym. I carry a small travel container in my gym bag and leave the bottle at home. Works on feet, too. Don’t pretend like you ain’t got sweaty feet! I can smell you from here.

Origins United State

I’m on the fence when it comes to “tonics” because of the studies proving that we don’t really need them, but then other studies show that we do. My opinion is to do whatever works for you and for most people that includes a “tonic” such as this amazing, awesomest Origins United State. Most tonics dry my skin out and leave it feeling tight, which is a definite no-no. However this “United State” from Origins is truly fantastic. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, clean, and refreshed. I plan on going back to Origins and starting my old regime up, because I swear my skin looked better when I used it. The cost is a little steep, especially when using it with other Origin products but I have only one face and as I get older I care less and less about the cost of keeping it looking great.

Cost: $18.50

You can buy “United State” directly from the Origins website.
