Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Regenerating Micro-Polish Kit

The big hype right now is microdermabrasion and micro-polish kits. They promise to give you young fresh skin and I’m on bored for anything that promises fresh young skin. Some of the best kits thought are around $80-250 and I’m not about to spend that kind of money. So I went to the store on a recommendation to find a less expensive version that works just as good, or at least close.

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Micro-Polish Kit was about $15 bucks and I figured if I don’t like it I can always return it to Walgreens. So I gave it a shot and used it twice a week for about a month or so and I really do like it. I use mine at night because that’s the only time I have, but a few times I made myself use it in the day time and there wasn’t that horrible red splotchy thing. It’s a two step kit that comes with the “polishing exfoliator” and the “post treatment”. The post treatment is a nice facial moisturizer that comes with an SPF because after you exfoliator your skin with “aluminum oxide crystals” you have to protect your face against the sun. All in all it only takes about 4 minutes and it does keep your skin looking healthy and soft.

Cost: $14.99.

Gold Bond Body Lotion

I’m addicted to shopping at CVS. It’s really a problem. Today, I spent over $90 just running in to get some Gold Bond Body Lotion. I don’t know how that happened.

It had been a really long time since I’d used a Gold Bond product; in fact I thought it was called Gold Bond’s. Its not.

A couple weeks ago I did a wash of laundry with Snuggle and I think I either used way too much or had an allergic reaction or both. Up and down my legs itched like some kind of horrible torture. As though a rouge gang of fire ants attacked me in the night. I’m pretty sure it was the detergent. I went back to my old fabric softener this week with the wash and did not wake up itchy all over.

Still, there were some spots from the week before that still bothered me. When I scratched them, they continued to get worse — I have extremely sensitive skin and am prone to all kinds of redness. Even rubbing lotion on my body can make it get red!

Well, like I said it’s been a long time since I’ve used it, but it works like a champ. Tried and true. No more itch.

BONUS! My roommate suggested using it on dry feet after the gym; he said that really works for him.

Jane Endless Eyes Liquid Eye Liner

I used a lot of black liquid eye liner in high school and once I grew out of that stage I left it behind for years until one day I had to go buy it again. My biggest problem is when I use eye liner or eye shadow as a liner, it will get into my eye crease or smear or smudge, or any number of things I DON’T want it to do. I never had those problems with liquid liner so I went to the store and picked up a couple.

I don’t have thick eyelashes and with liquid liner you can make a quick slash as near to your lashes as possible, slap on some mascara and boom your lashes look a hundred times thicker and best of all no smudging. Because of that, I bought a basic brown from Jane Cosmetics and then to liven things up a bit I bought their Chianti color. The Chianti is kind of a mauve and it makes my hazel eyes pop. It’s also a really great color for green eyes. Those of you with brown eyes should definitely go for the Navy. My friend has brown eyes and when she put on Jane’s midnight color her eyes looked fantastic.

The trick to apply it is making sure you don’t have a bunch of color on your applicator, hold your eye lid tight at the corner and apply it in quick short lines nearest to your lash line. Remember if you mess up just use a Q-tip to erase. After the first couple of times it’s simple.

Cost: $3.49.
