Face: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Mantastic!

Most guys want to look good, and ladies, you want your guy to be the hotness, right? I love all the makeup talk around here, but Vera says she’ll let me mix things up — allowing me to speak purely about men. It’s a gay boy’s dream!

A majority of products are unisex, so I hope everyone can enjoy getting to know my bathroom arsenal of potions and lotions. Honestly, the first thing you have to do is clean. Always start with clean. Don’t exfoliate, scrub, oil, lash, whip or whatever else. Clean first. Think pure thoughts.

Cetaphil is one of the most overlooked products on the market. It’s simple, gentle, and cheap. That last bit is my favorite part. Cheap is good. This certainly isn’t marketed specifically towards men, but the simple packaging and easy pump-dispense action makes guys love using it. Easy is even better!

You can actually use this with or without water. Cetaphil has a super-light lather, so even though the dry method might sound strange, it works well and leaves a light layer that softens the skin.

I’ve tried other products that dry and left my face feeling like old wallpaper. This very basic cleanser leaves me feeling soft.

“…formulated for dermatologists as a gentle, non-irritating cleanser for even the most sensitive skin … completely non-alkaline, non-comedogenic, and fragrance free.”

This is mainly made up of parabens though!! Not good!! Has been linked to people getting cancer…especially women with breast cancer. Most makeup/shampoos/some face washes does have parabens in it but this one consists mostly of parabens!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cetaphil! I am 6 months pregnant and in my 1st trimester, my skin was so sensitive due to the hormonal changes. This is the only cleanser that didn’t dry my skin to oblivion.

KC — Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives, they are also known to fight bacteria and prevent the spread of fungi.

They considered to be safe because of their low toxicity and long history of safe use.

A single — and controversial — study reports that parabens were found in a few samples of breast tumors. The validity of this study has been widely debated.

One study does not make scientific fact. There are many control factors to consider and as you say yourself, most products contain some type of this preservative.

A lot of companys ie: Origins, Bliss, ext
are pulling their products off the market and replacing them all with paraben free items. I think that for a company to replace all their items hints that parabens may be a little more dangerous than “just one study”. Parbens are used to keep products from not going bad and lasting longer. I would rather replace my products every few months than potentially doing harm to myself in the long run.

KC — so far, it’s just the one study (to the best of my knowledge). And again, the results have been debated — there are many, many factors to consider when making such a bold claim. If more compelling evidence surfaces, it will be a huge deal because parabens are in a lot of products.

At present, I will reiterate that the preservatives found in these products are considered safe because of their low toxicity and long history of use.

While we may not agree here, I would never suggest that anyone use a product they are not comfortable with. I think it’s safe to say that none of us want to use something that may end up doing us harm.

If you have an alternative you would like to suggest, I’m happy to review it.

This stuff is honestly ridiculously amazing. It is SO gentle like you wouldn’t believe. If it gets in your eyes, you don’t feel a THING. And it takes off makup in a jiffy. I love this product.
