Face: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Mantastic!

Most guys want to look good, and ladies, you want your guy to be the hotness, right? I love all the makeup talk around here, but Vera says she’ll let me mix things up — allowing me to speak purely about men. It’s a gay boy’s dream!

A majority of products are unisex, so I hope everyone can enjoy getting to know my bathroom arsenal of potions and lotions. Honestly, the first thing you have to do is clean. Always start with clean. Don’t exfoliate, scrub, oil, lash, whip or whatever else. Clean first. Think pure thoughts.

Cetaphil is one of the most overlooked products on the market. It’s simple, gentle, and cheap. That last bit is my favorite part. Cheap is good. This certainly isn’t marketed specifically towards men, but the simple packaging and easy pump-dispense action makes guys love using it. Easy is even better!

You can actually use this with or without water. Cetaphil has a super-light lather, so even though the dry method might sound strange, it works well and leaves a light layer that softens the skin.

I’ve tried other products that dry and left my face feeling like old wallpaper. This very basic cleanser leaves me feeling soft.

“…formulated for dermatologists as a gentle, non-irritating cleanser for even the most sensitive skin … completely non-alkaline, non-comedogenic, and fragrance free.”

Cetaphil | CVS $10

We all think of the Oscars as the award show of all award shows, there’s the infamous red carpet style and fashion, the high profile celebs and of course the swank Oscar parties. BUT, the parties aren’t all about who’s who and who’s wearing what. This year, IWC Schaffhausen has joined the fight for the environment and supported Global Green USA’s 5th annual Pre-Oscar party. The Swiss Watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen sponsored the exclusive VIP Lounge with unique environmental installations! Such celebrities like Adrian Grenier and Salma Hayek attended the fab event and joined CEO of IWC Schaffhausen Georges Kern in the IWC Patron Lounge and Atrium at Global Green USA’s 5th Annual Pre Oscar Party, raising awareness about smart climate solutions and benefiting the green rebuilding of New Orleans, at Avalon Hollywood on February 20, 2008 in Los Angeles, California.

Face: Florame Organic Face Cleaning Gel

A botanical alternative, just for guys!

Some of us like spending a little more time and money on our daily grooming regimen. For the upscale man, there are high-end options.

This daily wash is designed to clean the skin and prepare for shaving. All Florame products are made with organic ingredients, with a special line dedicated to men.

Crafted from organic argan vegetable oil and cedar extracts, the blend creates an aromatherapy experience, in addition to cleaning and moisturizing the skin.

Sorry ladies, Florame does not have a specific women’s line. Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!

It is a bit pricey, a smidgen over my usual $20 limit per product, but when I want to treat myself a few extra dollars isn’t going to stop me from doing it.

Eyes: Rimmel London Eyeshadow

Rimmel Lodon is a pretty popular and common brand to find at your local drugstore and before simply shrugging it off as a cheap product, stop and read this. I will admit that I’m not a fan of Rimmel’s foundation or lip sticks, but their eyeshadow is fantastic. I buy their quads because they come in complimentary colors so you can both highlight and line.

My biggest concern when it comes to eyeshadow is that the color stays true and doesn’t wear off. Rimmel manages to deliver both beautiful colors and longevity. For a few bucks it’s definitely worth the risk and who knows it maybe become one of your favorites as well….

Cost: Quads $5.69

FYI: My favorite one was a quad called 002 Smokey Brun (warm browns) .

Skin: Omega-3 Fatty Acids & Green Tea

Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 9:24 am

I was sitting here late at night thinking of a product that I love and would recommend when out of the corner of my eye I see my vitamin bottles. I know it’s not a “traditional” beauty product, but in the end it’s probably the single best thing you can do for your health and skin next to drinking a ton of water.

If your fans of Oprah, Dr. Oz, or “Origins” then you know by now that Green Tea is very important for healthy YOUNG looking skin. Now before you go buy some green tea and drink 8 cups, a reminder that the caffeine in the Green Tea at high doses will make you jittery and of course caffeine dehydrates you. So try drinking 1 cup pf green tea and heading over to your local Trader Joe’s to buy their Green Tea Extract.

Onto Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Omega-3’s generally come from fish, although you can get a good amount from Walnuts. My general problem with “naturally” getting the Omega-3’s is I don’t like fish. At all. Weird? Yes. But still the fact remains there is no fish in my diet. Because I know, like most of you, that fish is important I headed to my trusty Trader Joe’s and bought their store brand Omega-3 Fatty Acids. The bottle comes with 1200mg of fish oil, 600 mg of total EPA & DHA (that’s important to look for), and best of all it’s odorless. So you wont have to burp up fish oil later. Just so you know before I took the odorless I was using the “regular” kind and I would burp through out the day. Let me tell you, fish and bananas… not so good.

Cost: Green Tea Extract $8.38, Omega-3’s Fatty Acid $10.65.

I also included an article on each of them. Green Tea and Omega-3.
