Hair: Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk

Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk

Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk has worked miracles on my hair! This product is fantastic for taming all my crazy fly-aways and frizz in the summer, and helping me beat static in the winter. I love that it gives me a nice shine yet doesn’t make my hair look too oily or feel sticky at all. Although, the instructions say that you can apply it to wet hair as well as dry, I only use it on dry hair. When I put it in while my hair is still wet I find that after blow drying, my hair looks a bit greasy. But, with dry hair, I just use a tiny little bit (a drop the size of a dime for my long hair) and I have no problems.

And for me, another huge bonus is that the Smoothing Milk smells SO good. I love having that fresh and fruity scent in my hair all day long.

Garnier Fructis works like a charm and best of all, it’s cheap!

Cost: $4.89

Reader Review: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation

I was reading your site and was delighted to see that you’re requesting feedback from your readers as to what beauty products work, and which ones don’t.

I’ve struggled with acne and dark under-eye circles for as long as I can remember. As a result, I’ve tried just about EVERY concealer and foundation there is. I find that the ones that cover the best give a very unnatural finish, or just simply don’t match my natural skin tone (I’m very pale). After YEARS of experimenting and way too much $$ spent, I was walking through Sephora on 5th Avenue between 48th and 49th Street about two years ago, and came across a brand name that I remember watching on HSN YEARS ago. The fact that this company made it from HSN to Sephora made me feel I should give it a try (especially considering that I was tempted to buy it from HSN back in the day).

The brand name is Bare Escentuals, and the miracle product that I simply can’t live without is “Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation“. It has buildable coverage that looks completely natural, and perfectly covers my blemishes, scars and under-eye circles. And because it’s a powder foundation and not liquid, it blends seamlessly with my skin tone. I remember watching the segment on HSN years ago thinking this was a great product back then, but was skeptical to purchase it at the time due to the fact that it was on television, and not something I could sample in person. I’m SO glad Sephora now carries it because I was able to see with my own eyes (and on my own skin) just how perfect it is.

Anyway, I hope this feedback was helpful. Bear Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation (in “Fairly Light” shade) is my miracle product for covering imperfections and discoloration without looking too cakey, and if this advice helps another one of your readers, then I’m glad to offer the feedback!

Eyes: M.A.C. Liquid Last Liner

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Liquid Last

I used to be deathly afraid of liquid eye liner, mostly because I could never get it to go on in a straight line, without smudging. That’s why I was thrilled to discover that M.A.C. makes a great eyeliner called Liquid Last that actually goes on smooth! The brush is so easy to use. I am the WORST at putting on eyeliner, yet I have no problems putting this stuff on, it’s amazing!

Here is how the M.A.C. website describes Liquid Last,

“A rich colour liquid eye liner that combines long-lasting wear with a non-smudge, non-flake precision line. Goes on effortlessly. Applies with its own brush to draw a perfectly defined line.”

Oh yeah, and remember the She-laq that I told you about the other day? Well, there’s no need to use it over the Liquid Last. This is one eyeliner that isn’t going anywhere once you put it on.

My personal favorite color is a dark navy, almost midnight blue, called inky, but M.A.C. has this liner in 17 different colors, from gold to green to brown to purple. You name it, they have it!

Cost: $16.50
